     All of the stile and rail doors manufactured by Summit Woodworking meet or exceed Industry standards and are warranted for one year from the date of shipment unless otherwise stated. We do not warranty French doors that are more than 7 feet in height or more than 3 feet in width against bowing or warpage unless specifically stated in a quotation to you.

     Each of our doors has been inspected before shipment and we have determined them to be free of defects which would cause the door to be unfit for its intended use.

     Upon receipt of one or more of our doors, it is recommended that you inspect the door or doors as soon as possible. You should be checking:
     1.) for the possibility of freight damage.
     2.) to verify that you received what you ordered.
     3.) that each door is flat and straight and has no defects.

     If there is freight damage, please see the freight section of this website -
Terms of Sales and General Information.

     If a door is determined by you or your customer to be defective, we must be notified as soon as possible. Upon written notification of the defect and/or after inspection by our factory representative, we will at our option:

     1.) repair the door or;
     2.) provide a replacement part or parts for repair of the door or;
     3.) provide a replacement door.

     A replacement door or part will be as originally purchased from Summit Woodworking and specifically does not include freight or finishing or installation charges. It is understood that if a door or doors are found to be defective when a shipment is received, written notice must be sent to Summit Woodworking within 30 days after receipt of the doors and before any hanging, fitting, or finishing charges have been incurred.

To clarify further:

     If a visible and/or apparent defect exists upon your receipt and inspection of a door or doors from Summit Woodworking, it is imperative that we be notified before any further costs are incurred on that door or doors. We will not participate or assume any liability for those costs.

     Summit Woodworking will not be responsible for any door repaired or replaced without prior consent by our office.

     Claims due to warpage may be deferred for up to 12 months from the date of claim in order to allow for conditioning and equalizing to humidity and temperature conditions.

     Warp shall not be considered a defect unless it exceeds 1/4" in the plane of the door. For doors of greater size than 3/6 x 7/0 the 1/4" test is used in any 3/6 x 7/0 section of the door. Warp is measured by placing a straight edge or a taut string on the concave face and determining the maximum distance from the straight edge or string to the door face. Doors must be properly hung and finished in accordance with standard sealing and finishing practices in direct relationship to the exposure to be expected (see conditioning and handling). Unsatisfactory appearance and service due to failure to finish the door properly is not covered by this warranty.

     PAINTING A DOOR BLACK OR ANY VERY DARK COLOR CAUSES IT TO ABSORB HEAT AND DRY OUT. EXCESSIVE HEAT BUILD-UP AND LOSS OF MOISTURE WILL CAUSE WARPAGE AND/OR BOWING. CONSEQUENTLY, THE CHOICE OF ANY DARK COLOR SELECTIONS VOIDS OUR LIMITED WARRANTY WITH REGARD TO WARPAGE, BOWING, AND CRACKING OR SPLITTING.

     Variations in the colors of the wood or in the textures and grain of the wood are normal and are not considered a defect. Since most of our doors are made with solid lumber, the natural variations of color and grain characteristics are sometimes more prominent than in veneered products. However, it is our feeling that these natural color and grain variations are a part of the beauty of solid hand made wood doors.

     All implied warranties here are limited to one year from the date of shipment unless otherwise specifically stated. This warranty gives you certain specific rights and you may have other rights which vary from state to state.
